MGM Plus is currently free for all paid Sling TV subscribers and will remain free through January 22nd, 2023. Throughout 2022, Sling TV routinely launched ‘Freeview Weekends’ offering subscribers the opportunity to watch content from various paid streaming services for free. Following an NBA League Pass free preview earlier this month, the live TV service appears to be starting 2023 in much the same way.
MGM Plus might sound like a new service, but it is actually just a rebrand of Epix. After confirming the rebrand late last year, Epix officially relaunched as MGM Plus today. With a new look and name, Sling TV is now offering paid subscribers a chance to check out what MGM Plus has to offer.
Starting today (Sunday, Jan. 15) and continuing through Sunday, Jan. 22, MGM Plus is available to watch for free. Whether signed up to Sling Orange, Sling Blue, or Sling Orange & Blue, subscribers can access MGM Plus directly in the live TV guide, or by searching for the service to see what on-demand content is available to watch. Timed to coincide with the official rebranding, the premier of season three of Godfather of Harlem is available to stream on MGM Plus at 9 pm ET/PT tonight, so that’s one option for any homes that have already caught up on the previous two seasons.
For homes that do find MGM Plus to their liking, the streaming service can be added to any of the base plans for an additional $5 per month. For those that don’t want to pay for the service, there’s no need to worry about making any changes, as the free MGM Plus preview will automatically come to an end.
If new to Sling TV in general, and now considering giving the live TV service a try, now is a good time to do so. While plans typically start at $40 per month, Sling is currently offering a half-off deal that reduces the cost of the first month to as low as $20. Those that do sign up to Sling within the next week will also be able to take advantage of the current free preview and watch MGM Plus without paying through Jan. 22.
