T-Mobile Apple TV+ Promotion: How To Check & Redeem Code

T-Mobile customers can now get 12 months of Apple TV+ at no extra cost. While a great way to save on the price of a subscription, it is worth being aware of how the promotion works, which T-Mobile customers are eligible for a code, and any other limitations associated with T-Mobile’s ‘Apple TV+ on us’ deal.

Apple TV+ launched back in 2019. Since then, Apple has continually expanded the amount of original shows and movies that are available to watch. At the same time, device support has also been gradually expanding with the service now available to watch on more platforms and devices than ever before, and without the need for access to an Apple device, such as an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Apple TV+ is a fairly straightforward offering as there are no complicated plans or tiers to choose from. Instead, all consumers are able to sign up to the ad-free standard subscription for $4.99 per month. Considering the current T-Mobile deal is for 12 months, the promotion results in a savings of $59.88 over the course of one full year. Officially, the ‘Apple TV+ on us’ promotion is designed for customers signed up to either T-Mobile’s Magenta and Magenta Max plans. However, some other customers, including those on Sprint and business plans may find they are also eligible for the deal, and there’s a fairly easy way to check.

How to check and register for code

Before being able to redeem the promotion, consumers will need to register for the deal. This is all done through T-Mobile with the consumer’s phone number used as a way to authenticate their account and confirm eligibility. The entire process takes just a few minutes and doesn’t require any additional information to be given other than a T-Mobile phone number.

Check free Apple TV+ eligibility:

1. Head over to the T-Mobile Promotions website
2. Enter the T-Mobile phone number
3. Click Continue
4. Enter the T-Mobile phone number again
5. Enter the “2021APPLETVP1” promo code
6. Click Start
7. Read the T&Qs and click Continue
8. Choose a phone line (if more than one line on the account)
9. Click Continue

If the account is eligible, the T-Mobile customer will be presented with the option to redeem the promotion through Apple. If the phone number used is not currently tied to a plan that’s eligible for the deal, then the consumer will be presented with a “your account is ineligible for this promotion” message along with a reason for the denial. This will most likely be listed as the “current rate plan is not eligible” for a free Apple TV+ subscription.

If an eligible consumer doesn’t plan on using the code straight away, they don’t have to. Free Apple TV+ subscription codes do need to be redeemed before June 30, 2022, and can be used up until July 31, 2022. Therefore, consumers can redeem the code now and hold on to it until they are ready to redeem the free Apple TV+ subscription, so long as it is redeemed by July 31, 2022.

Consumers can access their registered code at any time through the T-Mobile website. Head over to the T-Mobile Promotions website again, enter the phone number the code was previously registered with, and the ‘Get Apple TV+ On Us for One Year’ registration details will be available to access under the “Reward Tracker” section. By clicking on the “View” button, the T-Mobile customer can confirm their reward and click on the “Click Here For Your Reward” button to redeem the free Apple TV+ subscription.

Register through T-Mobile, redeem through Apple

Although the promotion is offered by T-Mobile, the actual subscription is with Apple. Therefore, T-Mobile customers will need to actually redeem the code through Apple. This will not only require the downloading of the Apple TV app to access Apple TV+, but also an Apple ID and iTunes account to be set up. While this will be less of an issue for existing Apple customers, those without an Apple device will need to create their Apple account and add a payment option.

The addition of a payment option will be required as this is one of those situations where the free subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription once the promotional period has come to an end. Due to the use of automatic billing, consumers will need to cancel their Apple TV+ subscription through Apple before the end of the free 12 months, if they don’t plan on continuing with a paid subscription.

Besides having an eligible T-Mobile plan, consumers will also need to make sure that the devices in their home come with Apple TV app support. While the device support list has been expanding over time, some consumers may still find their preferred devices aren’t supported. If that is the case, those wanting to take advantage of the free Apple TV+ will have to consider using a different device to access the service or wait for their device to gain support before redeeming the offer.

T-Mobile Apple TV+ promotion summary

T-Mobile customers signed up to a Magenta or Magenta Max plan, as well as select Sprint and business customers, do have the option to redeem a free Apple TV+ subscription for one year. Subscribers should see the offer in their account, but can also check eligibility by attempting to register for a code through T-Mobile’s promotions website. If eligible, the code can be used straight away or at a later time, but will need to be redeemed before the end of July, 2022.
