Tennis Channel Added To YouTube TV As Expected, But Only To Sports Plus

The Tennis Channel has now been added to YouTube TV through its Sports Plus add-on. As this is an add-on, it will require an additional monthly payment to get access to the additional sports channels, including Tennis Channel.

It had already been confirmed that the Tennis Channel would be making its return to YouTube TV after having been removed from the lineup back in 2020. In April, Sinclair struck a deal with YouTube TV to not only see the return of Tennis Channel, but also the addition of some of its other channels as well.

As per the previous confirmation, the Tennis Channel was added to YouTube TV today (June 1). However, and what was less clear at the time of the announcement, Tennis Channel has only become available as part of the paid Sports Plus add-on.

In the original announcement, Sinclair and YouTube TV only specified that an agreement had been made to carry Tennis Channel and that the channel would “debut on June 1st, to coincide with Roland-Garros (the French Open)”.

There was no mention that subscribers would have to pay an additional $10.99 per month to get access to Tennis Channel through Sports Plus.

Tennis Channel aside, and T2, Charge! and TBD have all also now been added to YouTube TV as well. As fully expected, this time, these channels have been added to YouTube TV’s base plan at no additional cost. For reference, YouTube TV has also added Magnolia Network to its base plan

While T2 is another tennis-related channel, it is a free ad-supported TV (FAST) channel. In other words, subscribers shouldn’t expect it to be as rich in major tennis coverage as the likes of Tennis Channel.

It is also worth noting that YouTube TV has made some adjustments to its Spanish-language options as well. For example, both the Spanish Plus add-on and the standalone Spanish Plan now come with Hogar de HGTV and Tr3s.
