With the Crunchyroll app now available on Vizio smart TVs, SmartCast users have another option for streaming anime content. In fact, they now have access to one of the best options around for streaming popular anime shows and movies.

As is typically the case with the company’s smart TVs, Vizio users don’t have to manually install the app. Instead, the Crunchyroll app can now be found in the Apps section of the TV’s interface.

According to Crunchyroll, the app for Vizio Smart TVs is currently only available in the U.S., but is available across all Vizio OS TVs in the U.S.

Those with an existing Crunchyroll subscription can simply log in to the new app using their existing credentials. For those without an active subscription, Crunchyroll does offer access to a limited selection of ad-supported content at no cost.

Otherwise, a subscription will be required to unlock access to the full library. New subscribers can sign up for a premium plan either through the Crunchyroll website or directly through the new Vizio TV app.

Following a seven-day free trial, the cheapest ‘Fan’ tier costs $7.99 a month. There’s also the option to upgrade to the ‘Mega Fan’ tier at $11.99 a month, or the ‘Ultimate Fan’ tier at $15.99 a month.

The arrival of Vizio smart TV support follows a number of device compatibility improvements Crunchyroll has made over the past couple of years, and especially in terms of smart TVs.

Since the beginning of 2024, the Crunchyroll has gained support for LG smart TVs, Samsung smart TVs, and most recently, Xumo TVs. With Vizio also now added to that list, the anime streaming service has become even more widely available, without the need for an additional streaming device.
