The free streaming service, Tubi, has launched a new ‘Tubi For Creators’ program in a bid to support content creators. As part of the same initiative, Tubi is adding a bunch of content from creators to the streaming service.
Six content creators are already confirmed to have signed on to join Tubi for Creators, including Jubilee, Kinigra Deon, Rhett and Link’s Mythical and Watcher.
Thanks to these creators alone, more than 500 videos of episodic content are becoming available on the free streaming service, and accessible through the new Creatorverse section of the website and app.
“We’re listening to our viewers and recognize their desire for more stories that reflect culture and talent from the digital world,” said Anjali Sud, CEO of Tubi.
Tubi also says that more creators are set to join in the coming weeks, resulting in thousands of videos becoming available to stream for free on the platform in the near future.
“As the home for free, premium entertainment, Tubi is uniquely poised to bring the creator economy to Hollywood and expand the pathways for creators to succeed in long-form storytelling,” added Sud.
Tubi says that Tubi for Creators will expand in the coming months and with additional opportunities for creators, including opportunities for Tubi to fund production. More details on this, as well as the general expansion, are due to be shared later in the year.
This is only the latest move by Tubi to support creator-led and fan-supported content. Just this week, Tubi partnered with Kickstarter to bring a number of crowdfunded movies to the platform, and confirmed the partnership will include pledging directly to ten Kickstarter campaigns to help them meet their funding goals.
Tubi also launched Stubios last year, a fan-fueled studio program for aspiring filmmakers and their fans. In fact, the new Tubi for Creators program now encompasses Stubios.
