Tubi has launched a new ‘Scenes’ feature that’s designed to help mobile viewers find their next watch by scrolling through short clips of movies and TV shows. As the name suggests, the short clip will be a scene from the movie or episode, which is what makes it different to a traditional trailer.

With Scenes currently only available on mobile devices, the feature can only be accessed through Tubi’s navigation bar on iOS and Android devices. Once in the new Scenes tab, mobile app users will find they have access to “tens of thousands of clips” from movies and episodes currently available to stream on Tubi.

Similar to social media networks, Tubi is relying heavily on the use of artificial intelligence to help users narrow down the selection of scenes by personalizing their Scenes feed. Also similar to social media apps, Tubi users can simply swipe to the next scene or ‘like’ the scene they are currently viewing.

Currently, users either get a shrunk down version of their TV streaming app on their phones or are limited to quick vertical videos on social platforms. We believe there’s a better way to meet the needs of mobile users on the go, allowing them to watch both short form video and long form within the same app,” said Mike Bidgoli Chief Product and Technology Officer at Tubi.

Tubi also explains users have the option to quickly save a video to their watchlist while in the Scenes experience. In spite of only being available on mobile devices, movies and TV shows saved while in Scenes mode will be accessible through the My List section on other supported devices.

By creating features that leverage the strengths of each device, we can create an effortlessly entertaining experience for viewers looking for quick bursts of entertainment on the go that transition seamlessly to their living rooms,” Bidgoli added.
