The number of Vizio SmartCast active accounts increased to 18.6 million in the first quarter of 2024. Identical to Q1 2023, this resulted in a slight increase in the number of active accounts when compared to the fourth quarter of the previous year.
After closing out 2023 with 18.5 million active accounts, Vizio saw an increase of 100,000 in the first three months of the year. On a year over year basis, the number of active accounts grew by more than one million.
As part of the company’s latest quarterly results, Vizio also confirmed a total of 5.6 billion hours streamed during the first quarter. This also resulted in a slight increase compared to the 5.5 billion streaming hours reported for the fourth quarter of 2023. Again, on a yearly basis, the growth was much clearer to see, with Vizio reporting 4.9 billion streaming hours for the first quarter of 2023.
All of which resulted in SmartCast Hours per average SmartCast Active Account increasing to 101 per month. While equal to the the fourth quarter of last year, this is an increase on the 93 per month reported for the first quarter of 2023.
The company also reported net revenue of $353.9 million, including Platform+ net revenue of $159.6 million.
During the first quarter, Vizio added a number of channels to WatchFree+, including BBC News, Home Crashers, Ebony TV, GoTraveler, and 48 Hours, bringing the total number of FAST channels to more than 300. The number of built-in apps also increased to more than 230 during the quarter, thanks to the addition of Bloomberg, YES, Dove, Philo, Weather Nation, and LIV Golf, among others.
