Warner Bros. Discovery said today that it now sees “a clear path” to reaching 150 million global DTC subscribers, and before the end of 2026. The statement came following confirmation that the company ended 2024 with almost 117 million global DTC subscribers.

The 116.9 million DTC subscribers means the company managed to add more than 19 million subscribers in 2024 alone. Much of this is understood to have come through the continual expansion of the Max streaming service to new countries, and it is this worldwide expansion that the company now expects to help its subscriber base eventually reach 150 million.

We expect strong DTC subscriber growth to continue throughout 2025. And we now have a clear path to reach at least 150 million global subscribers by the end of 2026, with corresponding strong DTC revenue and Adjusted EBITDA growth,” Warner Bros. Discovery said in its Q4 2024 Shareholder Letter.

According to Warner Bros. Discovery, an already confirmed deal with Sky in the UK and Ireland “will bring Max to approximately 10 million of their current subscribers” and by the second quarter of 2026. With Max also due to launch in the UK and Ireland as a standalone service next year, Max also expects to reach those consumers not currently served by Sky.

Over the next two years, the company plans to expand availability of Max in other countries as well, including Germany and Italy in the first quarter of 2026. In the more immediate future, the next stage of Max’s expansion takes place next month, when the Max streaming service lands in Australia.

In short, our global expansion still has significant runway as Max rolls out to over 40% of the addressable global market where it is not yet available,” Warner Bros. Discovery said.
