How To Watch truTV Without Cable, And As Cheap As Possible

TruTV channel

truTV is available through many of the most popular live TV streaming services, but Sling TV is the cheapest option overall. However, before signing up to a live TV plan, it might be worth considering a standalone Max subscription instead.

While Max doesn’t unlock access to the live truTV channel, its B/R Sports Add-On does include select live sports events that air on truTV. The cheapest Max plan costs $9.99 and the B/R Sports Add-On costs an additional $9.99 a month (currently included for free), taking the total up to a minimum of $19.98 a month.

For those specifically interested in access to the live channel, here are the streaming services currently offering truTV.

Notably missing from the list above is Fubo. While Fubo offers access to a large selection of channels, truTV is currently unavailable through the live TV service. The network is also unavailable through cheaper live TV services, including Philo and Frndly TV.

Cheapest Way To Watch TruTV

Starting at $40 a month, Sling TV is currently the cheapest way to watch truTV without cable. Sling TV offers two main plans, Sling Orange and Sling Blue, and while these plans come with very similar channel lineups, there are some differences. For example, truTV is only available through the Sling Blue plan.

Sling Blue provides access to more than 40 live TV channels in total, and comes with a specific focus on news and entertainment channels. For those that also want access to Disney and ESPN channels, it might be worth considering the Sling Blue & Orange package, which starts at $55 a month.

Sling TV also provides subscribers with a variety of on-demand content, add-ons to increase the selection of channels, and a 50-hour DVR for recording movies, shows and more.

Other Ways To Watch truTV

The next cheapest option is YouTube TV. The base package costs $72.99 a month and unlocks access to more than 100 live TV channels, including truTV. Subscribers also get access to an unlimited DVR, the ability to share a subscription with five other people, and premium sports features like Multiview.

Hulu Live TV also offers access to truTV through its base package. Priced at $76.99 a month, the base plan not only unlocks access to 95+ live TV channels but also Disney+ and ESPN+ at no additional cost, making it a good option for those already paying for these additional subscriptions.

The final option is DirecTV Stream. While DirecTV Stream offers multiple live TV plans to choose between, truTV is only available with the Choice and higher packages. Considering Choice costs a minimum of $108.99 a month, DirecTV Stream is an expensive option for those specifically looking to stream truTV.

truTV And TV Everywhere

It is also possible to stream truTV programing directly through the network’s app and website. This is made possible through TV Everywhere support and still requires the user to have a paid live TV package that includes the channel.

One of the problems with TV Everywhere is that not every streaming service offers support for every channel they carry, and that’s also the case with truTV. For example, while Sling TV is the cheapest option for watching truTV, Sling TV doesn’t currently provide TV Everywhere support for the network.

Due to this, YouTube TV is the cheapest option for watching truTV through the truTV app, as well as through a live TV service’s own app and website.
