The last few years have seen a number of new VPN options surface for smart TVs. Following the arrival of the NordVPN app in late 2023, the Surfshark VPN app landed on Apple TV in 2024.
Even more recently, Surfshark launched a new Fire TV app specifically designed for devices running Vega OS.
Now it is the turn of ClearVPN, with the app having officially added support for the Apple TV and Android TV platforms.
“We built ClearVPN on one belief: privacy should be effortless,” said Tetiana Shokina, Product Manager at MacPaw. “Bringing it to Apple TV and Android TV wasn’t a feature request; it was the obvious next step. If simplicity is our promise, it has to work on every screen, including the biggest one.”
The ClearVPN app is compatible with Android TV devices running a minimum of Android TV 6 (Marshmallow) and is now available to download directly from the Google Play Store.
On Apple TV, the ClearVPN app is compatible with devices running a minimum of tvOS 18 and can be downloaded directly from the App Store.
To make the signing in process easier for existing customers, the ClearVPN app on smart TVs includes the option to sign in to an existing account via a QR code or an activation link and code.
According to MacPaw, the ClearVPN smart TV app also comes loaded with a dedicated Streaming feature that’s designed to make it easier for users to connect directly to the best servers for specific streaming platforms.
