DirecTV plans to launch a new ‘MyHomeTeam’ add-on within the next month. Once available, the add-on will provide access to “select regional sports networks” for an additional monthly fee.
At the moment, it is unclear how much the add-on will cost or whether it will vary based on location and the number of RSNs available in a specific area, similar to how Fubo currently charges for its RSN fee.
While it is also currently unclear exactly when the new ‘MyHomeTeam’ add-on will become available, DirecTV has confirmed that it will go live in time for MLB opening day on March 27.
The new ‘MyHomeTeam’ add-on is one of what DirecTV now calls its ‘Mini Packs.’ Earlier today, DirecTV launched two other Mini Packs, MyCinema and MySports Extra, along with its new MyEntertainment, MyNews, and MiEspañol ‘Genre Packs.’
MyCinema costs an additional $9.99 a month and unlocks access to an additional seven channels featuring classic films, romance, and family programming. In contrast, the MySports Extra costs an additional $12.99 a month and unlocks access to additional sports channels, including MotorTrend, NFL Red Zone, and Willow TV.
While MyCinema can be added to the new MyEntertainment and MyNews Genre Packs, as well as the existing MySports Genre Pack, MySports Extra is only available to MySports customers.
It currently remains unclear whether the new MyHomeTeam add-on will also only be available to MySports subscribers, but that seems like a real possibility.
