Disney+ managed to add another 4.4 million subscribers to its subscriber base during the most recent quarter. Overall, Disney ended the quarter with a total of 158.6 million Disney+ Core (122.7 million) and Disney+ Hotstar (35.9 million) subscribers.
In the U.S. and Canada, Disney+ ended the most recent quarter with a total of 56 million subscribers. Considering the service ended the previous quarter with 54.8 million subscribers, Disney+ added 2.2 million domestic subscribers between July and September 2024.
On a year-over-year basis, Disney+ ended the third calendar quarter of 2024 (fiscal Q4 2024) with 46.5 million subscribers, resulting in an increase of 8.3 million subscribers over the past 12 months.
In terms of international markets, Disney ended the third calendar quarter with 66.7 million Disney+ subscribers. With 63.5 million reported for the previous quarter, Disney+ added roughly 3.2 million subscribers during the most recent quarter.
When also adding the 35.9 Disney+ Hotstar subscribers reported for the third calendar quarter (up from 35.5 million), Disney reported a total of 158.6 million Disney+ Core and Disney+ Hotstar subscribers. This represented an increase on the 153.8 million reported for the second calendar quarter of this year, and an increase on the 150.2 million reported for the third calendar quarter of last year.
As a reminder, Disney+ increased in price during the third calendar quarter. The increase took the cost of the Disney+ Basic tier up to $9.99 a month, the cost of the Disney+ Premium plan up to $15.99 a month, and the cost of the Disney+ Premium annual plan up to $159.99 a year.
The third calendar quarter also saw the introduction of Disney’s ‘paid sharing program’ which allows Disney+ subscribers to share their subscription with people who live outside of their household, albeit for an additional monthly fee.
