If you find making adjustments to your TCL smart TV to be frustrating, Google’s Gemini can now do some of the heavy lifting for you. That’s providing you are using one of a select few Google TV models that now support Gemini’s newly-enabled voice controls.

- Select TCL Google TV models now support Gemini-powered voice commands for adjusting settings and troubleshooting.
- The upgrade is rolling out to compatible U.S. TCL models over the next few weeks.
- Once available, users can change picture/audio settings, fix issues, optimize for content, and more.
Last year Google confirmed plans to begin rolling out Gemini as a Google Assistant replacement on Google TV players and smart TVs. That rolling out then began later in the year, and initially on the TCL QM9K series TVs.
Now, select TCL TVs are getting another Gemini upgrade, and one which makes it easier for users to make changes to settings using just voice controls.
This latest Gemini upgrade is rolling out over the next few weeks and will initially be available to the following TCL models in the U.S.: QM9K, X11L, QM9L, QM8L, and RM9L.
Once available on a specific TV, the user will be able to make changes to various controls using voice commans, including the following:
- Adjust audio & video settings: Change common settings like brightness, contrast, picture, volume, and sound modes. For example, ask Gemini to “Set picture mode to Sport” or “Increase the bass.”
- Troubleshoot picture & sound issues: Describe what you’re experiencing, and Gemini will adjust the settings to fix it. Try saying, “The screen is too dark” or “I can’t hear the dialogue clearly.”
- Optimize settings for your content: Tune settings for what you’re watching. You can say, “It’s movie night—help make this feel like a cinematic experience.”
- Find settings menus: Go directly to the menu you want without clicking through multiple screens. Just say, “Open display settings.”
TCL TV users wanting to make sure they have access to this latest Gemini improvement as soon as it is available can check for any available system updates by navigating to Settings > System > About > and clicking on System update.
