Google TV Streamer Users Are Finally Gaining Access to Gemini

Gemini has now taken its next step in becoming widely available on Google TV, with the company’s Google TV Streamer the latest device to gain access to Google’s next-gen assistant.

Google has been advertising the arrival of Gemini on Google TV for some time now. After initially confirming at the start of the year that the Google Assistant upgrade was coming to the platform, Google reiterated its plans in May, stating the assistant would arrive before the end of the year.

While the assistant officially started its journey in September with the TCL QM9K series, Gemini is now about to become far more widely accessible, thanks to the Google TV Streamer.

According to Google, Gemini started rolling out to the Google TV Streamer yesterday (November 10) and completion of the rollout is expected to take a few weeks.

In addition to the slow rollout, Gemini is currently only available on the Google TV Streamer in the U.S. and Canada. Language support is also currently limited to English and French.

As previously confirmed, Gemini is expected to become available on even more Google TV devices in the near future, including the Onn 4K Pro and Hisense TVs.

Once available on an individual device, the Google TV user will gain access to an assistant that’s better at engaging in general conversations.

Instead of just searching for titles like the current Google Assistant, Gemini will be able to recommend titles based on vague queries. For example, “recommend something with sci-fi, but a movie that’s not too long.”

In addition to recommendations, Gemini is also better at providing movie and TV related information in general. As an example, you can access Gemini for a quick recap of past seasons of a series before jumping into the latest season.
