In an interesting move, Samsung has confirmed new interactive gaming experiences are coming to Samsung TV Plus. Specifically, the plan is to transform ad breaks into ‘game breaks.’

While it is unclear when these new gaming experiences will officially go live, Samsung has confirmed the first two available games will be Rivals Arena (a cinematic card game from Return Entertainment) and The Six (an interactive trivia game).

From the details confirmed so far, these games will be accessible by using a smartphone to scan a QR code. This will then unlock access to the game and without the need for an additional controller. Advertisers will also have the opportunity to sponsor or cobrand games, offering them another way to further increase brand awareness and/or engagement.

As Rivals Arena and The Six are only the first two games to launch under this new initiative, Samsung is expected to release more games in the future, and different types of games to appeal to different types of viewers/players. Regardless of the game, they will all be accessible without the need for a game controller.

In general, Samsung Ads also plans to improve opportunities for advertisers to connect their campaign messaging across both Connected TV (CTV) and mobile, including the option to utilize Samsung’s smart TV platform to help advertisers acquire new users and drive engagement to their mobile apps.

As part of the Samsung Ads 2024 IAB NewFronts presentation, the company also confirmed a suite of sports channels are coming to Samsung TV Plus. The new channels will unlock access to sports content from Major League Baseball (MLB), The PGA Tour, the American Hockey League (AHL), ONEChampionship (MMA) and Formula 1.
