One of the big changes in the live TV streaming market in 2025 was DirecTV‘s introduction of Genre Packs. Since launching in February, DirecTV has slowly expanded the number of Genre Packs available, and it now looks like a ‘MyLocals’ Genre Pack is coming soon.
As to be expected with a ‘MyLocals’ Genre Pack, this channel mini-bundle will unlock access to a viewer’s local channels. While it remains to be seen when the Genre Pack will become available, or how much it will cost, a DirecTV customer recently spotted the option in the live guide, seemingly confirming its existence, and the fact that it appears to be on the way.
According to the screenshot, Toon in With Me, a program available to watch on MeTV with DirecTV’s Choice, Ultimate, and Premier live TV packages, is also available to stream though the MyLocals Genre Pack.
Assuming MyLocals launches as suggested in the screenshot, it seems possible that the Genre Pack will be available as a standalone subscription.
While DirecTV does offer add-ons for its ‘Signature Packages,’ DirecTV typically classifies these add-ons, like MyCinema and MyHome Team, as Mini-Packs, helping to differentiate them from standalone Genre Packs.
However, as Mini-Packs are technically Genre Packs as well, it is possible that MyLocals may only be available as an add-on to the existing MyEntertainment, MiEspañol, MyNews, and MySports Genre Packs.
Either way, the suggestion here is that MyLocals will arrive to market without the need for one of the Signature Packages, further allowing consumers to custom build their own live TV package by only subscribing to the genres channel packs they want.
