Charter and AMC Networks have agreed a new distribution deal. As part of the new agreement, Spectrum TV Select Customers are set to gain access to the ad-supported tier of AMC+ at no additional cost.
While the two companies have not confirmed exactly when the free AMC+ subscription will become available, eligible customers will save $4.99 a month compared to paying for a standalone AMC+ subscription. In addition to original AMC series, AMC+ unlocks full access to Shudder, Sundance Now and IFC Films Unlimited.
As part of the same distribution agreement, the option to add AMC+ will also become available to purchase by Internet-only customers. The agreement also ensures that Charter will continue to carry AMC Networks’ portfolio of linear cable networks for the foreseeable future.
“This agreement with AMC Networks supports our goal of enhancing the value and variety of premium entertainment content available to our customers,” said Tom Montemagno, Executive Vice President, Programming Acquisition for Charter, which operates the Spectrum brand of video and connectivity services.
The inclusion of AMC+ is only the latest in a line of deals Charter has struct to bundle streaming services with its TV service. Last month, for example, Select Spectrum TV plans And Mi Plan Latino customers gained access to Paramount+ Essential at no additional cost. Other deals over the past 12 months have unlocked free access to Disney+, ESPN+, and ViX Premium with Ads.
From AMC’s perspective, this is the second time this year that the company has stuck a deal to bundle its streaming service with a live TV plan. Philo relaunched its base package as a ‘Core’ package in June, with the main difference being the inclusion of AMC+ at no additional cost.
