The Basketball Tournament and The Soccer Tournament will both be free to watch via the direct-to-consumer streaming platform, TST live. This has been made possible through a new partnership between The Tournament and Kiswe.
Kiswe has been in the streaming news a lot in recent months, due its partnering with various teams and leagues to launch DTC platforms. For example, Jazz+ (the Utah Jazz DTC service), Coyotes Central (the Arizona Coyotes DTC service) and Suns Live (the Phoenix Suns DTC service).
Building on those partnerships and platforms, Kiswe’s latest collaboration will unlock access to additional basketball and soccer content, with the new TST Live service home to multiple winner-take-all tournaments.
“We are thrilled to partner with The Tournament to help them connect with fans on a global scale and uncover new revenue streams,” said Christine Pantoya, Chief Revenue Officer of Kiswe. “Kiswe’s reliable and scalable technology has been proven in other sports leagues. We’re excited to help The Basketball and Soccer Tournament continue to evolve and grow.”
The Soccer Tournament kicks off June 5 and will see 48 men’s teams competing in a 7-v-7, World Cup style tournament for a $1 million grand prize. Along with the men’s tournament, a separate bracket will see eight women’s soccer teams competing for a $1 million grand prize.
The Basketball Tournament will then begin on July 19 and continue through August 4. Similar to the soccer tournament, The Basketball Tournament will also see a variety of teams competing for a $1 million winner-take-all prize.
In addition to the games, viewers can also expect access to exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.
“We love that we are able to connect directly to fans and gain a deeper understanding of our audience in order to provide the best possible experiences,” said Jon Mugar, founder and CEO of The Tournament. “Partnering with Kiswe allows us to reach and engage an even broader audience of basketball and soccer fans wherever they are, across any device.”
Earlier this year, ESPN agreed a deal for the 2024 The Soccer Tournament, with 27 games due to stream on ESPN+ and a selection of matches to be shown live on linear TV. Even more recently, Fox Sports agreed a multi-year deal for The Basketball Tournament, with games due to be shown live on Fox, FS1 and FS2
