Philadelphia’s WFMZ-TV is now available to DirecTV Stream and DirecTV via Internet customers. The new station unlocks access to local news and weather in the greater Philadelphia area, as well as popular programs, including Judge Judy, Judy Justice, 48 Hours, and Last Man Standing.

The independent news channel was already available to DirecTV satellite customers so this change simply opens up the channel to customers of the company’s satellite-free services as well. With the election also getting closer, it provides residents in a key swing state with another option for election-related coverage and programming.

We are very pleased to provide WFMZ-TV to our DirecTV streaming subscribers and expect this station to have the same great level of engagement for our streaming subscribers as it has always proven with our satellite homes,” said Dallia Kim, Vice President of Content and Programming at DirecTV. “This addition reflects our ongoing commitment to providing our customers with more choices and access to the local news and entertainment that matters most to them.”

The addition of WFMZ-TV follows last week’s arrival of Fox Weather. While DirecTV Stream customers already had access to Fox Weather, the channel is now available to DirecTV satellite customers as well.

Earlier this month, DirecTV confirmed plans to carry the new Chicago Sports Network. Set to become the home of Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox games, the new sports network is due to be added to DirecTV and DirecTV Stream services on Oct. 1st.

On the FAST side of things, DirecTV Stream also added another 10 free, ad-supported channels in September, including Ax Men, Duck Dynasty and UnXplained Zone.
