DirecTV Stream now costs a minimum of $75 per month following the latest price increase. The live TV service had previously confirmed the change would happen, with the higher prices due to take effect starting from January 22nd, 2023.

It is still only January but 2023 has already its fair share of price increases. HBO Max raised the price of its ad-free plan by $1 and the cost of fuboTV increased to $75 per month. DirecTV Stream’s latest price increase takes the cost of its cheapest live TV plan to the exact same level as fuboTV.

DirecTV Stream offers four main plans for new users to choose from and all of them have been affected by the latest price increase. Choice is the worst hit after increasing by $10 per month. In contrast, the other DirecTV Stream plans have increased by $5 per month.

DirecTV Stream January 2023 prices changes:

  • Entertainment $74.99/mo. (was $69.99/mo.)
  • Choice $99.99/mo. (was $89.99/mo.)
  • Ultimate $109.99/mo. (was $104.99/mo.)
  • Premier $154.99/mo. (was $149.99/mo.)

With the higher prices now in effect, anyone considering signing up today will be signing up at the new rates. For reference, DirecTV Stream recently started a new promotion which offers a saving of $10 per month for the first 12 months. However, the deal does require the purchase of a streaming player, which costs an additional $10 per month.

For existing DirecTV Stream subscribers, their packages are increasing by the same rate, and also starting from today. However, the exact date they will start paying the higher monthly rate will depend on when their next bill is due.

If now considering switching to a different live TV streaming service, at $75 per month, DirecTV Stream’s cheapest Entertainment plan costs the same as fuboTV’s cheapest Pro plan. Both of which cost $5 more than Hulu Live TV and $10 more a month than YouTube TV.

While fuboTV increased in price earlier this month, Sling TV’s Orange and Blue plans went up to $40 in November. Technically, Hulu Live TV adjusted its plans in December, although this didn’t result in a base plan price increase. YouTube TV hasn’t increased in price since 2020, but that may change later this year following the addition of Sunday Ticket and the rolling out of new features like Mosaic Mode.
