Disney+, Hulu and Max will be available as a bundle beginning in the summer. The combined product will bring together a wide range of content from ABC, CNN, DC, Discovery, Disney, Food Network, FX, HBO, HGTV, Hulu, Marvel, Pixar, Searchlight, and Warner Bros., among others.
In addition, it will also be possible for consumers to subscribe to either an ad-supported or ad-free version of the bundle, and it will be possible to start a bundle subscription through any of the three streaming platforms.
“This new offering delivers for consumers the greatest collection of entertainment for the best value in streaming, and will help drive incremental subscribers and much stronger retention,” said JB Perrette, CEO and President, Global Streaming and Games, Warner Bros. Discovery. “Offering this unprecedented entertainment value for fans across all the complimentary genres these three services offer, presents a powerful new roadmap for the future of the industry.”
Following the announcement yesterday, Warner Bros. Discovery’s President of Global Streaming JB Perrette touched on the subject a little more during the company’s Q1 2024 earnings call earlier today. Specifically, Perrette explained how this partnership will allow each service to better focus on ”swimming in their own lane’ while offering consumers a more robust product overall.
While it still remains unclear exactly how much this bundle is likely to cost when it does go live in the summer, Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO David Zaslav did state that it will be available at “a very attractive price.”
At present, it is possible to bundle ad-supported Disney+ and ad-supported Hulu together from $9.99 a month. With ad-supported Max starting at $9.99 a month, it would be expected that the bundle would be available for less than $29.99 a month. In terms of ad-free, the Disney+ and Hulu bundle costs a minimum of $19.99 while the cheapest ad-free Max plan currently costs $14.99 a month.
For reference, a recent report did suggest that a Max price increase is on the horizon. While it was unclear when that price increase might roll out, that would likely impact the cost of the new bundle as well.
