Philo Supported Devices: Compatible Smart TVs, Players & More (2026)

The affordable live TV streaming service Philo comes with support for a number of devices, including smart TVs, streaming players, phones, tablets, and more. However, there are some devices that are still missing support, with game consoles a prime example.

One of the major selling points with Philo is the price. With plans starting at just $25/month, Philo is one of the cheapest live TV streaming services around.

Of course, the low price does come with some caveats, and device support could prove to be one of them for some homes. Philo is not as readily available on as many devices as some other services.

Making sure Philo is available on the devices you already have in your home can help to avoid problems after signing up.

Watching Philo on a Smart TV

Surprisingly, smart TVs was one of the areas where Philo device support fell short in the past and especially when considering LG and Samsung smart TVs were unsupported.

However, Philo has continuously been improving its smart TV support in recent years and now offers an app for most major brands and platforms. This includes the launch of a Samsung TV app in 2022, and the arrival of an LG app in 2024.

With Android TV (including Google TV), Fire TV, and Roku supported, many smart TV owners will find they are able to download the Philo app from their device’s app store.

If a smart TV you have in the home is currently not supported, you may need to consider using an additional device, such as a streaming player.

Watching Philo on a Streaming Player

Streaming players are far and away the most readily supported device category for most streaming services, including Philo.

While Philo is commonly available on streaming players, that might not be the case with older models.

Again, with Android TV, Fire TV and Roku, all supported, many popular streaming players are already able to download the Philo app from the respective app store.

However, there are some exceptions here, with older Android TV, Fire TV, and Roku players potentially running into problems.

That’s not to say users of an older device won’t be able to download the Philo app. It is just they may encounter performance and/or stability issues.

In addition to Android TV, Fire TV and Roku, Philo is also compatible with Apple TV players and Chromecast devices, including Chromecast with Google TV models.

Other Ways to Watch Philo

In cases where a smart TV or streaming player is not supported, there are some additional ways you can stream Philo.

The easiest is with a mobile device. The Philo app is available to download from the Google Play Store on Android phones and tablets, and via the App Store on iPhone and iPad models.

With both Android and iOS apps fully supporting Google Cast and AirPlay, mobile users can easily cast live TV, on-demand content, and DVR recordings, directly from their mobile devices to a cast-supported streaming player or TV.

Alternatively, Philo can also be streamed on Windows PCs and laptops, as well as Mac computers and MacBooks.

However, unlike Android and iOS mobile devices, streaming on a Windows or macOS device is not possible through a dedicated app.

Instead, users will need to access Philo and watch live TV through a supported browser on these devices.

Of course, device support for any streaming service is always a constant work in progress. While some devices continue to lack support, that doesn’t mean Philo won’t add support for them in the future.
