Philo‘s subscriber base has now climbed to 1.3 million for the first time. The company confirmed the latest subscriber figure to Deadline. The last time Philo provided a subscriber update was back in January 2024. At that time, the live TV streaming service had just crossed the one million marker.
With the subscriber base now up to 1.3 million, Philo has managed to add around 300,000 subscribers over the past year. This also means Philo is continuing to close the gap on Fubo and Sling TV. At the last count (end of Q3 2024), Fubo has 1.6 million subscribers in North America and Sling TV had 2.1 million subscribers.
Of course the big selling point with Philo is the price. While the service did encounter a price increase last year, the base package still only costs $28 a month, almost $20 cheaper than Sling TV and $52 cheaper than Fubo’s cheapest live TV plan.
For that price, subscribers get access to more than 70 premium channels and more than 100 additional FAST channels. Subscribers to the Core base package also get access to AMC+ at no additional cost.
The additional subscription results in a minimum saving of $6.99 a month, when compared to paying for AMC+ separately.
Philo also confirmed to Deadline that it has now acquired Row8, a movie rental and purchase service. According to the report, Row8 will be integrated into Philo’s service by 2026. Once available, subscribers will have the ability to access more content (presumably via rentals and purchases) directly within the Philo app.
