Considering Roku reported a total of 38.7 billion streaming hours during the first three months of this year, the platform saw a quarterly decline in the number of hours streamed between April and June.
However, with 35.4 billion streaming hours in Q2 2025, Roku saw a year over year increase of around 2.5 billion hours for the second calendar quarter.
Roku also explained sports had a major impact during the quarter. For example, the World Cup helped drive hundreds of thousands of sign-ups to third-party services like Peacock and Fox One – both of which were only added to the platform in the weeks leading up to the tournament.
According to Roku, the success of the tournament resulted in one of Roku’s largest cross-partner subscription acquisition events ever.
Roku also confirmed The Roku Channel was the number two app on the platform by engagement in the U.S.
In terms of revenue, Roku reported $1.35 billion in total revenue for the quarter. This marked an increase on the $1.25 billion reported for the first quarter of the year, and an even larger (22%) increase on the $1.11 billion reported for the second quarter of last year.
Platform revenue for the most recent quarter stood at $1.22 billion, up from the $1.13 billion reported for the first quarter, and a 25% increase on the $975 million reported for Q2 2025.
According to Roku, the increase in platform revenue continues to be primarily driven by advertising ($673 million) and subscriptions ($548 million).
In contrast to platform revenue, device revenue totaled $134 million in Q2 2026. While an increase on the $118 million reported during the first quarter, device revenue was down (1%) on the $136 million reported for the second quarter of 2025.
Late last month, Roku increased the price of its hardware devices by as much as $50, with the increase understood to be the result of increased memory costs.
Due to the previously announced acquisition of Roku by Fox, Roku declined to host an earnings call or provide any financial outlook.
