Charter has launched new self-service tools that make it easier for Spectrum TV customers to add and manage additional streaming services, as well as upgrade to ad-free versions.
The new tools also make it possible for Internet-Only customers to add apps and services on an a la carte basis.
Over the past year, Charter has been extremely busy striking deals to include various streaming services to its live TV plans.
Depending on the Spectrum package, TV customers get access to Disney+ Basic, Paramount+ Essential, HBO Max Basic With Ads, Peacock Premium with Ads, AMC+ with Ads, and ViX Premium with Ads, at no additional cost.
What is noticeable here is that all of these additional subscriptions are for the ‘with ads’ versions. For those that would prefer to upgrade any of those subscriptions to the ad-free version, this is where Spectrum’s new self-service tools come in.
Through the My Spectrum app or Spectrum.net, existing customers can now easily upgrade from a ‘with ads’ plan to an ad-free plan and only pay pay the retail price difference between the two tiers.
If using the My Spectrum app, eligible customers can review and choose a preferred upgrade, billing option and payment method for their streaming services by clicking on the “Manage TV/Streaming” icon.
If using Spectrum.net, customers can manage their streaming services and upgrade to the ad-free versions by navigating to the services link and then selecting the “TV/Streaming” tab.
A La Carte Shopping For Internet-Only Customers
Those signed up to an Internet-only package don’t currently get access to any of these streaming services at no additional cost.
However, they can now use these same tools (My Spectrum app and Spectrum.net) to add streaming services to their Spectrum account on an a la carte basis.
While this might not make it any cheaper to subscribe to these services, the ability to add and manage multiple services, as well as the home’s internet plan, all through the one account may benefit some homes.
