Streaming‘s total TV share increased to 43.5% In February 2025, reversing the decrease in January. According to the latest data from Nielsen, Streaming’s share not only increased, but reached another all-time high for the category.

While Streaming increased to 43.5%, Cable and Broadcast saw their respective shares decline. In terms of Cable, the category’s total TV share dropped to 23.2% in February, down from January’s 24.4% and December’s 23.8%. Broadcast’s share dropped to 21.2%, down from January’s 22.5% and December’s 22.4%.

Unsurprisingly, Super Bowl Sunday played a major role in general in February, with the data pointing to more than 110 billion viewing minutes on the day. According to Nielsen, this resulted in Sunday, Feb. 9 becoming the second most-watched day of TV since the company began collecting its The Gauge data.

For reference, it was 2024’s Super Bowl Sunday which beat out this year’s game day, racking up an additional 500 million minutes.

In terms of individual services, YouTube’s share in February climbed to 11.6%. This not only marked an increase on January’s 10.8%, but it also marked another all-time high for the Google-owned streaming platform.

Other winners in February included Disney+, increasing to 4.8% (up from 4.7%), and Peacock, increasing to 1.5% (up from 1.4%).

While these streaming services saw an increase in February, others saw a decline, including Netflix, which dropped from 8.6% in January to 8.2%. Prime Video dropped from 3.7% to 3.5%, Paramount+ dropped from 1.4% to 1.3%, and Max dropped from 1.3% to 1.2%.

When it came to free streaming services, Tubi had the best month in terms of change, increasing from 1.7% in January to 2% in February. Of course, this year was the first year that Tubi offered coverage of the Super Bowl, and considering this marked the first year it could be streamed for free, it is not surprising that Tubi saw a healthy jump during Super Bowl month.

Overall, the best performing free streaming service in February was The Roku Channel, which remained at 2.1%. Unlike previous months, Pluto TV also saw an increase, jumping from 0.9% in January to 1% in February.
