This year’s Super Bowl was available to stream on Tubi, marking the first year that it could be streamed completely for free. With the major sports event available to watch without paying for a streaming subscription, it is no surprise that it also proved to be a major sports win for the free streaming service.

February 2025 was a good month for Streaming in general, with the category’s total TV share hitting 43.5% and another all-time high. Based on the same data from Nielsen, Tubi saw its total TV share jump from 1.7% in January to 2% in February. This 17% increase resulted in Tubi’s largest share since July 2024.

According to the same data, Tubi represented a third of all streaming usage during this year’s Super Bowl, and this resulted in the service seeing its audience multiply to nearly 16 times its January 2025 average.

In terms of demographics, Tubi’s Super Bowl viewers skewed slightly female, and were 38% more likely to be 18-34 than the total game average.

A record-breaking 127.7 million viewers watched FOX’s broadcast of Super Bowl LIX, including a simulcast streamed on Tubi (FOX’s free streaming service), which clearly resonated with consumers and further illustrated how cross-platform distribution has materialized into real world success,” Nielsen said.

Viewers weren’t the only Super Bowl win for Tubi. Based on data from Phenix last month, Tubi’s stream delay was calculated at 26 seconds, the lowest latency and streaming delay overall.

In comparison, NFL+’s stream delay was calculated at 51 seconds, Hulu Live TV’s at 62 seconds, DirecTV Stream’s at 63 seconds, Sling TV’s at 64 seconds, YouTube TV’s at 67 seconds, and Fubo’s at 78 seconds.

Tubi also topped the table for latency drift (the difference between the slowest and fastest streams on the same streaming service), registering the lowest overall with 39 seconds. This compared to Hulu Live TV with 41 seconds, NFL+ with 46 seconds, Sling TV with 49 seconds, Fubo with 55 seconds, and YouTube TV with 57 seconds.

Overall, and whether you measure in terms of viewers or stream performance, the Super Bowl proved to be a major win for Tubi, and the FAST sector in general.
