Paramount+ has increased in price. Following the latest price increase, the cheapest plan now costs $7.99 a month. Paramount Global confirmed the change to its ad-supported and ad-free plans was coming earlier this year, so the increase hasn’t arrived as a major surprise.
With the Essential plan now priced at $7.99, the ad-supported Paramount+ tier has increased by $2 a month. The annual Essential plan has also increased accordingly, now priced at $79.99 a year, up $20 on the previous rate.
Along with the Essential plan, the Paramount+ with Showtime tier has also increased by $1, taking the cost up to $12.99 a month. If opting to pay yearly, the annual Paramount+ with Showtime plan now costs $129.99 a year, up $10 on the previous price.
As a reminder, the Paramount+ with Showtime plan not only unlocks access to the Showtime library, but also the subscriber’s local CBS station. This is all in addition to a (mostly) ad-free streaming experience.
Those already signed up to the Paramount+ Essential plan aren’t expected to see their price increase at all this time. While annual Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers also won’t see their price increase, existing monthly Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers can expect their price to increase on their first billing cycle after September 20.
Paramount+ is only the latest streaming service to increase in price. Earlier this month, for example, Starz increased by $1 taking the price up to $10.99 a month. Last month, Peacock also upped the price of its plans, with its ad-supported tier now costing $7.99 a month and the ad-free tier costing $13.99 a month.
Disney also recently confirmed that price increases will be arriving later this year for Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu and Hulu Live TV.
