Peacock first became available in the United States in April of 2020. However, this was a beta launch with the service primarily only available to Comcast Xfinity customers. It wasn’t until July of the same year when Peacock became available nationwide. Since then, the service has continued to increase its reach by expanding device support and the variety of content available to watch.
Who owns Peacock?
Peacock is a property owned by NBCUniversal, which also means the parent owner is Comcast. This is why Peacock comes with a heavy emphasis on shows from the NBC vault and movies from the Universal catalog. Barring any possibility of a merger, this also means it is unlikely that Peacock will change ownership any time soon.

At the same time, even with a live TV subscription, consumers may find some live sports events are only available through Peacock, making a subscription worth it to live TV subscribers as well.
